I am glad you are well and that business is coming up and I am in hopes that it will stay good as it has been poor enough for some time passed. If I cannot have the benefit of it myself, someone that is not in the army can.Old Abe is the man that has got the right place and is the man that is able to keep it to in spite of, and I think that we shall soon have an overshelling of matters to the front as it has been still for the past three days around here. No news stirring at all except is camp rumors and there are plenty of them as there always is.Everything is going about the same way old sort. A great many sick ones in the company and I am going to write that I am one of that crowd. I have been sick for two weeks past with the ______ and fever, and it has very near use me up, but I am in hopes to conquer them yet. Today I have not had a._______ for the first time one week yesterday and I begin to be encouraged. I think if I can keep them off for two or three days that I shall come around right again. It has been exceedingly sickly this season around here and it has taken hold of the boys rather hard. I wasn’t in hopes I should get over it without being sick at all but I had to take my turn with the rest of them. So I shall have to do the best I can and let it go with as light thought as possible.I have a request to make. I would like for you to send me (Five dollars) for a special purpose which purpose I will tell you in my next letter. Be sure and send it and do not fail. It is rather discouraging, perhaps to have to send for money so soon after having been paid six months, pay and bounty, but I can say that I have not spent a dollar but I called foolish. I have sent home some, bought some things that I wanted to fit me for a winter campaign, supposing there is one, and there is a great deal of talk about it among some of the officers here, and I have let out quite an amount to the boys in the company and have lent myself all out. That is why I send for the money. And please to send a few postage stamps, as I am almost out. But I must close now, as our candle is almost gone. So goodbye for the present. Excuse poor writing, as my hand is not the steadiest just at present. From a friend,George W. Jellison
