Discharge sent off to be signed by General Buell. It may be signed in 2 weeks or 2 months. Hopeful that it is no more than 1 month. We are under charge of Col. Wilson. We are eating well. There are 5 of us in the tent waiting for discharge from the regiment. A man named Baldwin of Kenosha helped him. Baldwin had his thumb shot off while on guard one night. Here is where to send letters (provides address w/ mention of Colonel Wilson). I have plenty of postage stamps. Haven’t been paid yet, will get it when we get to Louisville. Kentucky is not the place ____ (can’t make out the words here). Things will work out for the best, advice he learned from someone. He then mentions something about a hand in marriage (can’t make out the words).
