Description: Wow! Scarce! CHUCK JONES Original Production Cel of "Sea Catch" from "The White Seal" by Chuck Jones in his 1975 Adaptation from Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book story. Production # marks on cel are partially covered by the matte making them hard to read but we can see a K 12 S 6. Matted with Chuck Jones' Production Official Stamp & COA, Acquired From a Large Private Collection & Hundreds of Chuck Jones Cel WorksMatte is 20" W x 16" H, Visible Cel area is Approx 12.5" W x 10" H Note: We will be listing many other original cels from the same film & some other characters in the coming days. This sharp hand painted Original Animation Production Cel from Chuck Jones Productions depicts "Sea Catch" & from the made for TV film "The White Seal" released in 1975 with story & art from Chuck Jones as adapted from Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book". We are not experts on these, but this size is called a twelve field cel for it's approx 12" x 10" (or 12.5" x 10.5") size from our research. The film is a true classic by Chuck Jones was made as one of three made for TV films by Jones from "The Jungle Book". "Rikki Tikki Tavi" 1975 & "Mowgli's Brothers" 1976 were the other two features. We have cels listed or to be listed from those films as well. These authentic cels are getting tougher to find as time goes by due to growing collector interest in this collecting genre & hobby & each piece is of course "one of a kind". The cel is in excellent condition, but not perfect of course. The cel has slipped slightly out of the matte edge on right side (as shown in pictures 6-8 in photo gallery). This should be a fairly simple fix, but we left it as we acquired it & reduced price to accommodate. There is also a slight bend in cel as shown in pictures in photo gallery. Otherwise, cel is sharp and would look even better framed. The "Sea Catch" image & art are very nice as shown. No staining, tears or other than as noted. Please review all pictures taken to assist you with determining condition & use zoom feature if needed, but it looks terrific & would be even better in a protective frame. The background color is the matting board, it is not a cel's layer. We made no attempts to clean or alter the cel. This is matted & suitable for framing if you choose. The collector we acquired this work from had literally hundreds of rare production cel pieces from various works by Jones, many in consecutive series, which we have personally not seen much outside of a studio sale 20 years ago perhaps. This has a Chuck Jones Ent mark on lower left of cel & a standard COA Paper that came with this when purchased. Chuck Jones (Sept 21, 1912 - Feb 22, 2002) is among the elite of the elite cartoon artists & film innovators in history. If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know this. In his extensive career he created such characters as the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe LePew, & Marvin the Martian (and others) as well as helping refine the characters of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig & more along the way. Each of these hand painted cels are from an animation artist's hand & a part of cartoon film history. We feel the collecting of Authentic Animation Art is truly one of the neatest collectible genres. Not only do you get a piece of a gifted artist's work, each piece is part of a living history of the movies and films they were used in & they make exceptional display items. It's a bit like owning a World Series game used bat from a baseball player, at least we feel that way. But in this case the World Series never ends as the cartoons keep playing and playing. We can send without signature confirmation if you request, but if item is marked delivered, but comes up missing, buyer would assume all responsibility for loss, as insurance will not cover items without signature confirmation. Also, FedEx & Others are beginning to require signature on items above $500-$700. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
