Description: Chinese Export James Giles Hand Painted Floral & Butterflies Teapot C. 1750-1760 Very nice antique 18th century Chinese export porcelain teapot. Decorated with hand painted flowers in pink, purple, red, blue, and yellow, butterflies in pink, black, yellow, orange, and green, and small red and black bugs. With gold gilding to the finial. Unmarked. Decorated in London by James Giles. Circa 1750-60. Has a small 1 3/4 inch wide hairline on one side of the teapot that does not go through to the inside of the pot and a small glaze flake to the side of the handle that likely occurred during the firing process and is in manufacture. Also has wear to the gilding on the finial. There is also a small professional repair to the edge of the lid. It is extremely well done. I cannot determine the extent of what is repaired I would expect it is a small chip. It is visible under a black light. If you would like additional pictures please ask. Measures approximately 7 1/2 inches wide from spout to handle x 5 1/4 inches tall. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece. DS DX
