Description: Chicago World's Fair Bronze Pyramid Art Bookends / Masonic All Seeing Eye 1893. ******* Chicago World's Fair Bronze Pyramid Art Bookends with Masonic All Seeing Eye c.1893 ******* Superb realistic looking textured bronze pyramids by Chicago's number one former city builder and planner, D. H. Burnham. His company put Chicago back on the map after the Great Chicago fire of 1871. Formerly known as Burnham & Root, Daniel Burnham later ventured out on his own when his partner died. he was active in the construction of the World's Fair in 1892, and he is known for his architecture and ornate details in both Chicago and New York. Each bookend contains a real Columbus half dollar, which leads me to believe they were exhibited in the Mint Exhibit located on the fairgrounds. They are mounted on what appears to be oak boards, and weigh 6 Lbs. each. The glass eyes are show-stoppers! Unbelievable and creepy looking, both in excellent condition without cracks. The only thing I did to these was replace the worn felt bottoms. They are really beautiful works of art! Likely a unique set. See my other wonderful bookend listings going on NOW!
