Description: I'm offering a new, still in box Proto 2000 Chessie System SD9 #1839. I purchased this new back when it was released but I never completed my layout so it has stayed in the box all this time. The shell has never been attached to the engine. I did remove the engine from the box to give it a quick run around my small circle of test track and it ran very well. This engine is a Life-Like Proto 2000 engine, released before Proto 2000 was purchased by Walthers. I believe this engine was from the first release of SD9s back in 1996, but it could be from the re-release in 2002. The engine is DC powered. According to the included instructions, this is a DCC ready model with an included circuit board and DCC socket. You would need to purchase and install your own DCC decoder to convert it. It has the original horn hook couplers. The stock number is #21239. Enjoy!
