This etching, along with Cope's famous oil "Council of the Royal Academy Selecting Pictures for the Exhibition", are iconic images of the Royal Academy in the mid 19th C. The British Museum notes on the print: "shows the interior of the life school of the RA with artists in a curved line, under lamps. drawing at easels, from a model on a low round dias under a large lamp, with drape and curtain on the left, standing with one leg in front of the other and holding a sword". A side note - the etching clearly shows the spectacular array of gaslights that had begun to be used in art classes at that time. This important print appears in the collections of the Royal Academy, London Science Museum, National Gallery of Canada, deYoung Museum, San Francisco, British Museum Print Collection. please visit my ebay sites: Art https://www.ebay.com/str/rufus1226 Records www.ebay.com/usr/juledefelice_0 Books www.ebay.com/usr/j18-jule www.ebay.com/usr/judefe-65 https://www.ebay.com/usr/judefe16
