Description: One 9-1/4" plate from Charles Field Haviland's "The Trocadero" dinnerware line - a rare find. Produced at the GD factory in Limoges, France and also decorated there by an artisan in its on-site studio - presumably between 1901 and 1914. The line was produced exclusively for export to the United States, where it was imported and distributed by Abbott in New York City. It had an unusual flat bottom that we cannot find anywhere in our internet research (as opposed to the typical ringed bottom). The side plate features a white background with primarily pink flowers accompanied by yellow and gray backdrop flowers, a few green leaves and a gilt rim. The plate has decorative blind embossing on the rim (the inside of the upward curved area) and an inner ring approximately 1-1/2" from the periphery - a repeating scalloped design. Although there is one chip along the rim, the plate is in good vintage condition. The plate comes with two printed backstamps - GDA Limoges and GDA France - signifying the E. Gerard Et Dufraiusiex factory in Limoges and the Abbott importer/distributor in NYC.
