Description of the Little Harry Mine:The Little Harry Mine is a 1000ft adit located between the Stanley Mines and the Gladstone Tunnel near Idaho Springs, Co. The city was founded in 1859 when rich gold and silver deposits were discovered. The vein contains sericite sylvanite petzite bornite tennantite galena with minor striated pyrite proustite pyrargyrite enargite bismuthite with copper and fine free gold. The vein is believed to continue on to the Lamartine veins which was one of the most productive mines at the time. Little is known about the the little harry mine but it was once utilized by The Colorado School of Mines. You can presently see several names written on the walls from around 1921. The mine was closed around 1942 when mining ceased during world war 2. The Little Harry Mine was reopened for the first time in 2019. please handle minerals with care as many contain toxic metals, elements or chemicals in their natural state.
