Description: Cereus - Night Blooming Cactus - 1 HEALTHY ORGANICALLY GROWN fully ROOTED plant in starter pot with THREE NEW SHOOTS!!!! approx 12-14” long or longer depends where you measure lol! This plant grows beautifully and EASILY and is very healthy. OVER 1.5 years old! (See feedback!) Cereus Night Blooming Cactus - Very fragrant. To me they smell like ivory soap! I love this plant!! Scientific Name: Epiphyllum oxypetalum. Common Name: Dutchman’s pipe cactus, Night blooming cereus or Queen of the night. Night-blooming cereus is the common name referring to a large number of flowering ceroid cacti that bloom at night. The showy white flowers are short lived, opening at night and lasting thru late morning —and most species bloom only once a year, for a single night. My mother plant— that is MY ACTUAL MOTHER PLANT -in photo 1- not a stock photo like so many listings. (Plus like 6 others scattered around my yard) EVERY ONE IS LUSH, full and a jaw dropper when people see them even not in bloom— and mine bloom 4 or more times a year!! I grew mine from a cutting a friend gave me. And my cereus blooms at least 4 times a year. I do encourage it with liquid bloom fertilizer. The blooms are lightly scented and open at nightfall and then close with the first rays of hot morning sun or will last thru the morning if in bright shade usually. This plant for me closes at about 10ish. They have been incredibly reliable. Their only issue is slugs and snails if u leave pot on ground. Now that I only keep it in elevated pots and hanging baskets, never have this issue. Think of that movie “Crazy Rich Asians!” For several amazing nights each year, (and this cutting is from a plant that blooms AT 4x a year) it’s exqusitely scented flower. The buds start to burst forward all along the “paddles,” they swell and swell getting bigger ea day so you have plenty of warning not to miss it! But even not in bloom they are impressive. Lush and green and they cascade beautifully. Easy to grow: Night Blooming Cereus Grow in bright shade. Not full on blaring sun. They will fade out and look almost chartreuse if too much sun. Dappled am sun is fine. I only grow them as potted plants that are grown in a homemade mix with a bit of added cow manure or compost or I just use regular rich potting soil with added sand or perlite for excellent drainage. They don’t like to be in swampy soil. But they do like to be watered especially when it’s hot! Fertilize the plant monthly in spring with a diluted bloom or reg houseplant food. The limbs can get long, but you can trim them without hurting the cactus. In all but the warmest regions, grow night-blooming cereus as a houseplant. In south Florida, CA, TX they are outside year round. In zone 9 or colder give it a spot outdoors for summer with filtered light or morning sun. Then bring in before temperatures drop below 55. The dark green branches can reach 3 feet long! It grows larger the larger the pot it’s transferred into. This cactus lacks true leaves, its leaf-like growth is really flattened PADDLES. Its showy blooms appear in late spring or early summer, and its white flowers can be 11 inches long and 5 inches wide. This one seems to stay about 6” wide In my container. Please watch tracking and get it out of a cold OR baking mailbox! I work very hard to do things right and very honorably. THIS IS CRAZY healthy and READY TO TRANSPLANT and bloom if fed bloom fertilizer and given a nice new deep pot with rich soil 3/4 + 1/4 sand or perlite!) . They do like to be crowded in a slightly smaller pot. But they grow magnificently in whatever size you give them. They produce roots to sustain themselves first so large pot will first grow roots. These are grown in an ALL organic garden. In homemade organic soil. Pesticide free. When u get it, please remove the mini plastic “pot” & give it a drink although I soak it & give it micronutrients before sending. You can leave in the little pot up to a week— then please put the little rootball in your own pot of well draining rich soil and put in very bright light area just no full sun! **Wait until you see new growth or she is acclimated to your climate before u put outside. Please do not put outside until temp are over 70 degrees. She was raised in sub tropics, you will shock it otherwise. This is such a wonderful rewarding plant!!! And so easy if brown in bright shade!
