He served as their artistic director for a period of time between (1959-1961). Hans Welling was responsible for some of the most sophisticated and beautifully crafted German Art-Pottery post war. His range was vast and his experimenting with surfaces and glazing technique incredibly interesting. Glazing with lush layered color..applied and incised pattern decoration as well as dusty and encrusted finishes to appear just discovered in an architectural site.
