Description: CEF Casualty Victory Medal for WW1 to Redfern, 47th British Columbia) Battalion Impressed to: 654647 A. Sjt. R. Redfern. 47-Can. Inf. Robert Redfern was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire in October 1882. He emigrated to Canada, and resided in Goderich, Ontario. Redfern served during the Great War with the 47th Battalion, Canadian Infantry on the Western Front. Sergeant Redfern was killed in action, 28 September 1918, when according to the CEF Burial Registers - ‘Killed in Action. While in charge of a section, and leading his men forward to the attack on the Village of RAILLENCOURT, he was instantly killed by enemy machine gunfire.’ Sergeant Redfern is buried in the Raillencourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord, France.His service file is downloadable for free from the Canadian Archives.– NEF - All items are unconditionally guaranteed as to authenticity.
