Description: This is a cast iron plaque that would have been attached to a cooking stove made by the Born Range Co., also known as the Born Steel Range Co. of Cleveland, Ohio. They made high-end stoves and ranges for restaurants and you'd also find them in wealthy homes. They exhibited at the 1893 World's Columbian Expo and won a medal. These medals were awarded after the expo closed and this company made a mold from the original and attached the copies to their stoves. See the photo in the listing of the stove and some text that says they were awarded the medal (these two images are not included with the item in this listing). The piece is 8 1/2" long and 3 1/4" wide and is in VG condition with no damage but there is overall wear, toning loss, some tarnish, a few rust spots. Uncommon.
