Description: The Queen of Hearts is a 1984 etching by American artist Carol Travers Lummus. She created the intricate design on a copper plate with a stylus, then used an etching press and ink to create the print on high-quality rag paper. Each piece is hand-pressed and therefore will have slight variations throughout the series. Carol added aquatint for depth and to enhance the detailed etching. It's pencil signed by the artist and numbered 64/350. The artwork comes professionally framed in a metallic painted wood frame that measures 11.5 inches in length, 13.75 inches in height, and 0.75 inches in width. The print has not been examined outside of the frame but it appears in good condition. The sight size is approximately 4.4 inches in length and 6.5 inches in height. The mat is gray with a slight textured metallic appearance. Carol is a New England resident with an extensive artistic career. She has been creating etchings since the 1970s. She studied art at the Massachusetts College of Art; University of Geneva; and later Dartmouth College under several noteworthy professors, including Bauhaus artist Hannes Beckmann. Carol's work has been featured in over 60 national and international exhibitions.
