Description: Item Description: Aagaard, Carl Frederick (Danish, 1833-1895) landscape oil on canvas - path to the land via tree grove, signed CF Aagaard (lower right). Carl Frederic Aagaard (born January 29, 1833 in Odense), a danish was a landscape painter. At age 19, Aagaard came as a student to the Royal Danish Academy of Art and became a student of landscape painter Peter Christian Skoovgaard (1817-1875). It was - by his own admission - the greatest influence on him. With his brother Johan Peter (1818-1879), Aagaard also worked as an engraver and xylographer. Later, he became assistant to the decoration painter Georg Hilker Christian (1807-1875). In 1857, he presented several works with great success to the public during a joint exhibition. Between 1869 and 1870, undertook a study trip Aagaard extended to Switzerland and later (1875/1876) he traveled to Italy. On these trips, his sketches formed the basis of his oil paintings afterwards. In 1892, Aagaard was honored with the title of "Professor".
