Description: Captivating is a vintage 1930s Billy DeVorss pin-up print featuring an Art Deco flapper. It is 5" x 6.25" and is in excellent condition. Billy DeVorss (1908–1985) was an American pin-up artist known for his glamorous and vibrant depictions of women, primarily in the 1930s and 1940s. He was self-taught and developed a distinctive style that emphasized radiant, idealized female figures often rendered in pastel colors and soft lines. Unlike many of his contemporaries, DeVorss did not work for major illustration studios. Instead, he painted and sold his works directly to calendar companies and other publishers, which gave him more creative freedom. DeVorss’ pin-up art appeared in calendars, advertisements, and magazines, making him a popular figure in the Golden Age of pin-ups. His work is admired for its elegance and charm, often blending sensuality with a touch of innocence. He remained active throughout his career, contributing to the pin-up art legacy that helped define mid-20th century American pop culture. Chuck Olson CollectionChuck Olson spent over 40 years collecting and traveling the United States in search of unique vintage prints. He was especially interested in prints that were printed for use on calendars in the "Age of the Calendar" from 1900-1960. Chuck amassed a collection of well over 10,000 framed and unframed prints before his death. Please feel free to contact me with any questions about the item.
