Description: This print is from a rare German portfolio book from the 1920s. The book was made up of exceptionally high quality gravure prints. The image depicts the "Contorted Gneiss" in the Northwest Territories (NWT) Canada as it looked over 80 years ago. I believe this may be the Acasta Gneiss-- let me know if I have the ID wrong! The Acasta Gneiss is a rock outcrop of Hadean tonalite gneiss in the Slave craton in Northwest Territories, Canada. Located on an island about 300 kilometres north of Yellowknife, the Acasta River rock deposit, believed to be 3.96 billion years old, is the oldest known intact crustal deposit on Earth. The page measures approx. 9.1 x 11.25 inches (23 x 28.5cm), and the actual image area is approximately 6.25 x 8.5 inches (15.5 x 21.5 cm). Beneath the image is a short caption in four languages (English, German, French and Spanish). The page is in excellent condition for its age. \ Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
