Description: For sale is an exceptional impressionist watercolor painting by the highly regarded California Artist and art instructor Morris Jack Shubin (1920 - 2013) Shubin often depicted California locations in his works but in this painting he depicts a wonderful scene along the shore of Lake Pontchartrain in Bucktown Louisiana. There is inscription on the backer board (not the watercolor itself) locating the town of Bucktown Louisiana. So we presume this to be the location. The painting shows a normal day in the life of the local residents. Clothes flap in the breeze on a clothes line as the water gently laps against the lakeside homes and boats on a beautiful sun filled afternoon. The painting is signed in the lower left corner by the artist with the initials AWS for the American Watercolor Society and NWS for National Watercolor Society. He was an esteemed member of both. Matted, not framed. On Arches France wove paper Condition: Overall very good condition. As mentioned above the watercolor has professional quality matting but does not have a picture frame. Shubin moved to Los Angeles at age two and began painting while in high school. He was raised in Southern California, attended schools in Los Angeles and served in the Navy during War World II. As a full-time painter, Shubin also was an instructor at the Hewitt Painting Workshop and often judged art exhibits. He was a member of the California National Water Color Society, American Watercolor Society, artist-member of Laguna Beach Museum of Art, West Coast Watercolor Society, Pasadena Society of Artists, Watercolor West, Since the 1960s he lived in Montebello, CA.
