C1890 Set Of 12 Silver & Mother Of Pearl Handle Dessert Knives & Forks. Boxed

Description: Set Of Twelve 1890 Solid Silver & Mother Of Pearl Handle Dessert Knives & Forks presented in a mahogany box. Full English Hallmarks for Goldsmiths' Alliance Ltd. London, 1890. A beautiful antique set of twelve each dessert knives and forks, the blades and tines are fully hallmarked solid silver, the handles are mother of Pearl with a deep ribbed carved pattern. In their original good mahogany box, lined with blue felt material. In good/very good pre-loved and used antique condition, no wobbles to the handle, there is some minor use marks to the blades & tines - one pair in particular. There is a crack to one of the fork handles and an old smooth chip (possibly done in the making) to one of the knives - neither of which are instantly obvious, please see photo 12. The lustre on the mother of pearl is stunning, with the hand carved detail creating beautiful iridescent shimmering light. I would recommend feeding these with some oil regularly to reduce any ageing. No obvious yellow tinge to the mother of pearl. A stunning set, beautifully presented. A real rare find.
