Description: C0022 Vintage Indonesian Spun Bamboo Bowl Container Hand crafted bamboo container from Talang Kemuning, a small village in Sumatra. A local artisan spun this bamboo and stained it with black lacquer for longevity. Twelve-sided. Spire on lid. Very good condition. Not a tourist piece but a functional piece of art! Circa mid- to late-1900’s. 16” tall with lid on x 14” at widest I have been a collector for over 60 years and have spent this time searching for the most unique, wonderous and culturally-significant pieces from far off places like Africa, Middle East, South & Southeast Asia, Central & South America and the Oceania Islands. Most were acquired from the country of origin and/or from avid collectors. All that I know about the item - through provenance or my own research - is shown in the listing.
