Description: c 1926 Shelley China (post Wileman and Foley) hand painted Art Deco tea trio in pattern "Tall trees and sunrise" #11678, produced at the old Wileman & Co / Foley China pottery works in Fenton, Staffordshire. This brilliant trio bears an exquisitely detailed country scene in glowing tones of orange, yellow and black on a lustrous, bright white background. The 8 sided, fluted Queen Anne shaped cup pairs beautifully with the square saucer and side plate. Dimensions:Cup 7 cm tall and spans 10 cm across from the edge of the cup to the outer edge of the handle.Saucer 13.3 cm square.Side plate 14 cm square. In fair original, almost antique condition: The cup has staining to the interior which I have not tried to clean but may respond to a very mild bleach wipe; and a fine hairline to the base which passes through the body. The saucer has no chips, cracks, repairs, restoration or crazing that I can identify. The side plate has a fine hairline on the foot which is baerely visible through to the front. The colours remain clear and bright. Random glaze and kiln spots, and enamel smudges, are typical of china manufactured at this time and the manual processes involved, and should be expected. The underside of all pieces bear the Shelley England green back stamp; the design registration number for the Queen Anne shaped cup #723404 listed on 23/8/1926; and hand written pattern number. I have listed 5 sets of trios (4 of them are damaged); a sugar bowl & milk jug; and 2 spare saucers and 1 side plate in this pattern separately. Ref 1427
