Description: c 1926 Shelley China (post Wileman and Foley) hand painted Art Deco spare saucers x 2 and a side plate in pattern "Tall trees and sunrise" #11678, produced at the old Wileman & Co / Foley China pottery works in Fenton, Staffordshire. This brilliant design features an exquisitely detailed country scene in glowing tones of orange, yellow and black on a lustrous, bright white background. The 8 sided, fluted design is very tactile. Dimensions:Saucer 13.3 cm square. Side plate 14 cm square. In fair original, almost antique condition: One saucer is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, restoration or crazing that I can identify. The other saucer has a fine hair line in the central well which runs through front and back, but is stable. The side plate has a multi directional fine hairline which runs through the piece but is stable. The colours remain clear and bright. Random glaze and kiln spots, and enamel smudges, are typical of china manufactured at this time and the manual processes involved, and should be expected. The underside of all pieces bear the Shelley England green back stamp; the design registration number for the Queen Anne shape #723404 listed on 23/8/1926; and hand written pattern number. I have listed 5 sets of trios (4 of them are damaged); and a sugar bowl & milk jug in this pattern separately. Ref 1437
