Description: c 1890 Wedgwood ‘CHINESE’ Flow Blue Child’s Miniature Cup and Saucer This is an antique child’s miniature Tea Cup and Saucer set transfer printed in a deep Flow Blue in a pattern named ‘CHINESE’ produced by Wedgwood, c 1890. Both the cup and saucer have deep chinoiserie borders; the saucer has a small folly in the center. The cup bowl has a small building with a large willow on the left-hand side. Each outer side of the cup has different scenes with pagodas, a small village, water, trees and shrubs. Wedgwood produced children’s china to the same standards as adult pieces, and these pieces are no exception. The cup and saucer are embossed with ‘WEDGWOOD’ although it is barely visible on the small base of the cup. The saucer is printed with the pattern name, ‘CHINESE’ and ‘ETRURIA ENGLAND’ and ‘WEDGWOOD’. Dimensions:Cup: 3.25” W x 2.675” D x 1.5” HSaucer: 4.25” Dia x .5” H Please ignore any white glare reflections in the photos. This scarce antique child’s miniature Flow Blue Tea Cup and Saucer are in excellent condition. There may be transfer skips and smudges, and minor firing and stilt imperfections typical of pieces manufactured at this period of time, but nothing that diminishes the display value; this is a quality set made by a well-known, high-quality pottery.
