Description: DATING TO THE 1850’S ACQUIRED FROM ITS ORIGINAL CENTRAL OHIO ESTATE FASHIONED OF A BEAUTIFUL RICH FLORAL BROCADE SILK AND IS ONE PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION, SEWN BY HAND FULLY THROUGHOUT. PIPED SEAM AROUND THE NECKLINE AS WELL AS THE ARM HOLE WITH AN EPAULET TRIMMED IN TASSEL PATTERN BRAID AT THE EDGE WITH SLEEVES IN LARGE BISHOP FULLNESS AND THE BOTTOM SLEEVE IN A TURNED UP CUFF TRIMMED IN MATCHING BRAID. HAND HAMMERED HOOK AND EYES CLOSE THE CENTER FRONT WITH THE INTERIOR HAVING A FAN OF BONING AND LINED THROUGH THE TOP IN GLAZED COTTON. RUCHED GATHERING AT THE BOTTOM CENTER FRONT WITH MATCHING BLUE STITCHED COVERED BUTTONS TRIMMING THE CLOSURE. THE SKIRTING IS LINED IN GLAZED COTTON ON THE HEM ONLY WITH WOOL BINDING TRIMMING THE BOTTOM EDGE. CONDITION: UNDERARMS HAVE A SMALL AREA OF DARKENED STAINING, THE LEFT IS A LARGER STAIN THAN THE RIGHT, RIGHT IS BARELY VISIBLE AND THE LEFT DOES NOT READILY SHOW WHEN WORN OR DISPLAYED. ONE FRONT BUTTON IS LOOSE AT THE BOTTOM AND NEEDS A STITCHING BACK. THE INNER HEM LINING IS MISSING TWELVE INCHES ON THE RIGHT SIDE WITH THE CENTER FRONT LINING HAVING AN L SHAPED TEAR, NONE IS SEEN FROM THE EXTERIOR. THE SIDE SEAM OF THE BODICE SHOWS THAT IT WAS TAKEN IN A QUARTER OF AN INCH AT ONE TIME AND RELEASED AGAIN, THERE IS ONE PINHEAD HOLE THAT IS UNSEEN. SOME TINY EDGE POINT WEAR TO THE BOTTOM EDGE HEM OF THE SKIRTING IS ALL BUT UNNOTED, ONLY VISIBLE WHEN LAID FLAT AND INTENSELY STUDIED.
