Signed and inscribed by Sullivan on the half title to Avis Foley. Sullivan's own account of the rise and functioning of Opportunities Industrialization Centers (OICS) which were founded by Sullivan to provide jobs and workplace skills for marginalized communities, especially African-Americans. The recipient, Avis Foley, was a longtime Minneapolis Civil Rights activists who public life began in the 1940s and lasted until her death in 2002. Her obituary noted her as a founding member of the Minnesota Women's Caucus and the Minnesota Political Caucus of Black Women. Laid in is a piece Twin Cities OIC-printed stationary with Foley's name on it. A lovely, and rare, document of the Civil Rights Movement in Minnesota.
