How about in terms of commodity and convenience? When it's needed, it's priceless because no one carries a knife, corkscrew, bottle opener, cigar-trimmer, and pipe-ash pick in one pocket. The Buddy-Nife is an amenity that nobody thinks about until they receive a cigar or a bottle of wine...by then it's too late. Go hunt in the kitchen. This tool was most likely a giveaway treat by liquor and restaurant suppliers as a promotional gift; or possibly found at the cash-register in a hardware store as an impulse-purchase. It has a keyring gap for anytime-facility and constant availability. And its presence may provide just a bit of comedy. This item was likely zinc-plated, judging from the resulting worn finish. I cleaned the surface and removed rust and flaked plating material, tightened the rivets and secured a new razor-blade to make it usable again, though I think there is a collector out there who would appreciate it more than a user. The appearance guesses its age to be 1933 to 1941, from the end of prohibition until the beginning of war-production. The rust-pits indicate the material is basic carbon-steel; by the 1950s stainless steel was getting cheap enough to use for commodities such as this. The brand identification notes the manufacturer is Standard Appliances Inc., Chicago (local to steel production), ILL. USA, using the old state-abbreviation protocol and indicating possible export distribution. It's unique and it's cute. Be the first one on your block to have one; or sell yours to me to be restored.
