Description: Buddy Holly “Bo Diddley”/“True Love Ways” Coral Records April 1963 In the years following the tragic death of Buddy Holly in 1959, Coral Records continued to release material to keep his name alive and generate sales. Buddy’s original producer Norman Petty had the Fireballs overdub instruments on a number of demos and unfinished tracks for these commercial releases. Holly’s recording of “Bo Diddley” was recorded at Petty’s studio in January of 1957. The overdubbed track, featuring a new lead guitar part, was cut in 1962/early 1963. Backed with the string-filled 1959 master of “True Love Ways”, “Bo Diddley” was issued as a single in April of 1963, weeks after its inclusion on the “Reminiscing” album. The vinyl is in very good (VG) condition and has been cleaned in an ultrasonic record cleaner. Both labels are bright and without tags or stickers. There is a black magic marker checkmark on the “True Love Ways” side. The sleeve is the original company sleeve. The side seams are intact and there are no rips although the top corner is clipped/cut out. This copy comes from the collection of a longtime disc jockey and rockabilly collector in Massachusetts who has recently passed.
