Description: Bubbly Botryoidal Purple Grame Agate Amethyst Crystal Cluster Locality: Mamuju area, Sulawesi Barat Province Indonesia Size: 7.5 x 6.5 x 3.9 centimeters - Notes - - This is a nice quality specimen of purple chalcedony/amethyst from the new find in Indonesia, also commonly referred to as “Grape Agate” - Specifically, the specimens from Sulawesi have been properly identified as amethyst. Under magnification, you can see that each ball is a sphere composed of hundreds of tiny individual amethyst crystals radiating out from the middle. At the core of each sphere may be a tiny dot of chalcedony/agate. It has a different paragenesis than agate and does not have typical layered botryoidal crystal structure. Surprisingly, these are actually spheres of microscopic radial amethyst needles!,. Additionally, this piece has a multitude of micro size clear crystal orbs (perhaps moganite, more definitive study needs to be done on the specimens from this locality) - Complete on all sides - Good condition, No damage Questions?
