Description: An original British War Medal and Victory Medal awarded to G-24589 Pte L Brinkworth of the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment. Leonard was born in Birmingham and resided at Bournville. He also enlisted for the great war in Birmingham, initially joining The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) with the number 4848. Leonard was killed in action on 23rd February 1917, aged 24. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial to the missing on the Somme. It’s likely Leonard was one of the men of the battalion killed whilst out on patrol in no mans land around the Moutauban area. Please see photos for condition.
