Description: Autographed 3" x 5" double-weight photograph, 1943Bohumila Rosenkrancova (1872-1949) Czech soprano, important pedagogue, impresaria and authorShe was one of the first women to graduate from the Prague Conservatory and received further vocal education in France and Italy. After a career at the Prague National Opera she opened the B. Rosenkrancova Art Studio which had world-wide renown with students from the Bohemian world as well as Germany France, Italy and America. Some of her Czech pupils included: Miroslav Jenik, Slavica Tauberova, Georgia Tuzar (American), Pava Vachkova-Osuska, Meda Valentova and Zdenka Zikova. She also produced concerts and entertained foreign singers who would from time to time give master classes.Well known in the Czech musical world as a musicologist and author, she wrote numerous books and articles including a biography of her friend Emmy Destinn, "Memories of Emmy Destinn", as well as articles about Enrico Caruso and his voice production and even as far afield as the Swiss composer, Emile-Jaques Dalacroze and his eurhythmics. An autobiography was co-written with her student Maria Jaroslav and published in 1930. The book was re-released 20 years later, the year after her death in 1950. Her daughter Marie was a soprano who sung with the Prague National Opera.
