Description: Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures Artist: Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures Title: Bobby Vee Meets The Ventures Release Year: 1963 Pressing Year: 1963 Label: Liberty Records Catalog Number: LRP-3289 Run-Out STAMP: LRP-3289-1-SIDE 1 | D5 Format: 33 RPM • 12” Album • Monaural UPC: none Having jumped headfirst into pop music with The Night Has A Thousand Eyes, Bobby Vee and producer Snuff Garrett did a complete 180 for their next album, teaming the singer with the renowned instrumental quartet The Ventures for one of his hardest-rocking albums ever. From the cranked-up version of Goodnight Irene that opens the record through a killer rendition of Candy Man, this is one great showcase for Vee's vocalizing and the playing of Nokie Edwards et al., and the band even gets a couple of instrumental tracks to themselves as well. The resulting album is not only a great follow-up to Vee's earlier LP teamed with The Crickets, but it stands well on its own terms and isn't a bad showcase for The Ventures as well. Personnel: Bobby Vee (vocals); Mel Taylor (drums); Bob Bogle (bass); Nokie Edwards (lead guitar); Don Wilson (rhythm guitar). Side One: Side Two: Goodnight Irene This Is Where Friendship Ends Walk Right Back Honeycomb Linda Lu Pretty Girls Everywhere Caravan (instrumental) Wild Night (instrumental) What Else Is New I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter Candy Man If I’m Right Or Wrong NOTE: I try to match the condition of my vinyl records to eBay's Grading System.
