Scheduled to be released in 1995, a technical problem with the printing press delayed the release. The four animals depicted were: the Mastodon, the Saber-tooth cat, the Eohippus, and the Woolly Mammoth. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 3080a.
