Description: Black Blizzard is Tatsumi's first full-length graphic novel; first published in 1956; and published in English in 2010 for the first time. First English language edition, first printing with full numberline 10-1 Considered the preeminent graphic novel and one of the first ever examples of Gekiga. Created in 1956, author/artist Yoshihiro Tatsumi's affinity for Mickey Spillane and hard-boiled crime novels of the 1940's inspired Tatsumi to create Black Blizzard. Gekiga was quickly adopted as an exciting, new Japanese art form that catered to an unrepresented group of Japanese artists and cartoonists who longed for their art NOT to be known by the more common term "manga", meaning "whimsical pictures" as their art was much more serious; and intended for adults. Condition is generally good. Soft cover decorated with illustrations from Black Blizzard. Can feel thin indent to middle of front cover, but no tears visible to front or rear covers. Binding secure and all pages present. Internal pages free from any inscriptions or penmanship. Pages are mostly clear and bright, but there is a small water mark to top right corner on first 10 pages and on couple of pages at back. Please view photos to get a clear indication of the condition.
