Volume I : Introductory Chapters, Water Birds and Game Birds Plates 1-42 Volume II: General Chapters: Land Birds Plates 43-106 Louis Agassiz Fuertes (February 7, 1874 Ithaca, New York – August 22, 1927 Unadilla, New York) was an American ornithologist, illustrator and artist who set the rigorous and current-day standards for ornithological art and naturalist depiction and is considered as one of the most prolific American bird artists, second only to his guiding professional predecessor John James Audubon. CONDITION: As pictured. Please look carefully: Wear and Blemishes are typical of age, use and composition. There is lower, corner water damage to Volume 2, as pictured. Some pages still stuck together, but images are unaffected. Covers have dings and nicks indicative of having been used as a reference book. Both have gift inscription / stamp by former owner.
