Vilímek publishing house and several other publishers from 1921–1947. The missing illustrations are attached in the appendix, so the book will also serve as the first comprehensive catalog of Zdenek Burian's early work. In addition to illustrations and covers for well-known books by Alexandre Dumas, Robert Louis Stevenson, Rudyard Kipling and Alfred Assollant, the book also includes lesser-known authors Joseph Delmont, Paul Grabein, Rudolf de Haas and many others. The artistic accompaniment is presented with a short article about the author and a brief content of the book, so that the reader has a better overview of what event the illustration is related to.
