Description: Biddeford, Maine Pre-1920 RPPC - Trull Hospital Exterior Real Photo Postcard Description Antique Real Photo Postcard, circa pre-1920. Identified as the Trull Hospital in Biddeford, Maine. Card No. 75. Divided back, AZO stampbox, unused. Condition: This is an original photo postcard, not a copy or reproduction. It has a small bend in the lower right corner, and some adhesive and album remnants on reverse side. Comments: The Trull Hospital, Biddeford's first hospital, was opened on May Street in June of 1900. At the time it was built the medical profession was divided into two camps, allopathic and homeopathic. The Trull hospital was the first homeopathic hospital opened in Maine. It was named after Dr. Frank J. Trull, its founder. The hospital burned down in 1906 but was quickly rebuilt. A nursing school was also run out of the hospital while it was in operation. Sometime before its closure the hospital operated as a convalescent home. As of 2013, it is no-longer a medical facility.
