Pardoe (1839-1919) was a Methodist Episcopal minister in western Pennsylvania, including the Steel town of Altoona, where he passed away. Here he passes along vignettes of Christian thought and action from rural America of the 19th Century.The Notes of Introduction were by Bishop W. F. Mallalieu (1828-1911) of that same denomination, and by the Reverend Francis E. Clark, who formed and led what became The Young People's Society of Christian Endeavor. A splendid grouping of writers.This work was found in the 200-year-old farmhouse library of a house in rural north central Ohio. They loved their books and kept them all.
