Description: Up for sale is a massive and incredible rare Oligocene/Miocene pig-like Paraentelodon macrognathus canine from Linxia basin of Gansu, China! Paraentelodon macrognathus is an extinct species of entelodont, a group of prehistoric pig-like omnivorous mammals. These creatures lived during the late Oligocene to early Miocene epochs(this production area in Late Oligocene ), approximately 28 to 16 million years ago. Paraentelodon macrognathus helps paleontologists understand the evolutionary history of artiodactyls and the ecological dynamics of prehistoric ecosystems. Its unique features and adaptations make it a subject of interest in the study of mammalian evolution. Its premolars, canines and probably also the incisors are very much enlarged relative to the molars. the mere gigantism of P. macrognathus excluded the necessity to compare it with the small-sized Entelodon and Archaeotherium commonly occured in the Oligocene of Europe and North America. Among the specialized American entelodonts of the Late Oligocene and Early Miocene, only Dinohyus attained approximatedly the size of P. macronathus. Still, it is easy to distinguish them. Paraentelodon macrognathus is a giant beast, with an estimated shoulder height of approximately 1.8 to 1.9 meters. Scholars estimate that its adult weight is around 4.35 tons; however, this weight may be slightly overestimated. Compared to similarly sized entelodonts in North America, the weight estimates are mostly around 1 ton. It's massive size, long limbs suited for running, powerful jaws with strong biting force, and sharp teeth all indicate that they were formidable apex predators. Compared to modern pigs, their diet leaned more towards carnivory. Its massive size made it a terrifying predator. In summary, Paraentelodon macrognathus was a massive, omnivorous mammal with distinctive physical traits, living millions of years ago in Eurasia. Its fossils continue to shed light on the complexity of prehistoric life and the evolutionary history of mammals. The jaw is measured around 21 cm/8.2677 inches in length and 7 cm/2.755 inches in width. The fossil is 100% authentic.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION!
