Description: BETTY BLUE (372 LE MATIN) rare rolled 1986 1st Release original UK 30"x40" QUAD POSTER. Measures standard U.K. quad crown size of30 x 40 inches. Single-sided. Rolled unfolded. Original UK cinema quad poster for the cult classic 1986 French movie starring Batrice Dalle and Jean-Hugues Anglade, which was based on the novel written by Philippe Dijan. This is the full colour (blue and yellow, not monochrome blue) first release poster and it features the iconic image of the beautiful and pensive Betty above the southern France beach hut that she shared with her lover Zorg. One of the most stunning, recognisable and best movie posters of the 1980s, showing, for my money anyway, the sexiest woman ever put on film. However... BEWARE - there are many reproductions of this poster being sold online falsely as originals. See below - NOTES ON HOW TO TELL ORIGINAL vs REPRODUCTION BETTY BLUE CINEMA QUAD POSTERS - Due to the huge popularity of the movie in 1986 many commercial reproduction posters were printed shortly after the film's release which used the same imagery as the quad. I saw these reproductions myself being sold commercially in shops back in the late 1980s, and I have compared originals and repros side by side, so I do know what I'm talking about! The repros are usually undersized, most measuring around 27 x 37 to 39 inches. Original Betty Blue cinema quads ALWAYS measure 30 x 40 inches - I have three Betty Blue quads in my personal collection at the moment, both rolled and folded, and they all measure exactly 30" x 40". I know full well that many original 1980s quads varied in size by up to a quarter/half inch or so, but this is NOT the case with Betty Blue cinema quads - they were a full 30" x 40" created for use in a cinema display case - any BB poster measuring even a half inch under these dimensions is not an original cinema quad. The repros are printed on a glossy type of paper. The paper on original Betty Blue quads is a slightly 'rough'- textured matte paper, typical of 1970s/80s quads such as those used by printing companies such as W.E. Berry and Lonsdale & Bartholomew. The printing on the repros is flat, shiny and glossy. The originals used a 'live' ink printing process, and if you look carefully at my close-up photos you can see it has a physicality that appears almost tangible, looking like the ink could almost be smudged and rubbed off with your fingers - something that is completely missing on the repros. Unfortunately many of these repros are now being sold as 'originals', either through seller ignorance or seller dishonesty. Bottom line - no 27 x 37 inch glossy poster is an original Betty Blue UK cinema quad poster. Overall condition - good.Great colours. No pin-holes. The poster has been displayed and shows signs of this. Some marks, wear and creasing from display handling and storage. Some tears around the edges of up to approx 1.5 cm, the worst of which are on the left-hand side edge.Reverse has some blu tac residue and some surface paper-lift. The poster isn't in perfect condition - but it is an original one. I have taken several photos so that all areas of the poster can be viewed in detail. Please also study the photos for yourown appraisal of the general condition. (Anything else shown in the photographs such as frames, browser sleeves, etc, are there for display purposes only and are not included in the sale). Will be very carefully packed for postage in strong packaging materials. (See below for detailed packaging information). Any questions or further photos required please ask. Thanks for looking. PACKAGING AND POSTING INFORMATION - ALL THE ITEMS THAT I SEND IN THE POST WILL BE VERY CAREFULLY PACKAGED USING STRONG AND SECURE POSTAGE MATERIALS. I am a collector of movie memorabilia as well as a dealer, so I fully appreciate and care about the items that I sell. I do not want something to get damaged in the post after I've sold it, so I take a lot care in the packaging of it so that other collectors will happily receive the item in the same condition that it is shown in the photos. I know people are very concerned about how something they've just bought will be packaged - especially if it's valuable and rare. I also know all too well the disappointment of receiving something damaged in the post because of lazy, cheap and shoddy packaging. So, therefore to assure my buyers that their goods will be carefully packed, I will explain in detail below how I prepare and package my items. - FLAT ITEMS such as folded posters, lobby cards, press books, etc, are put into polythene sleeves and then placed between two pieces of THICK card before being sealed in a 'Do Not Bend' envelope. The extra card will make this package an absolute minimum of 15 mm thick to prevent bending. - ROLLED POSTERS are placed inside a sleeve of polythene tubing and then put into a 3 inch diameter tube which has strong 2.5 mm thick walls. The poster will be cushioned at both ends inside the tube with tissue paper or bubble wrap, etc, to prevent movement. The ends of the tube will be tape-sealed on the outside. - LINEN-BACKED POSTERS and irregular sized or shaped posters will be rolled in kraft paper, and then bubble-wrapped. Depending on the type of poster the tube may be anything between a 3 inch and 6 inch diameter. All tubes will have minimum 2.5 mm thick walls. - OTHER MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS such as collectable figures, props, etc, will be bubble-wrapped and cushioned with crushed paper or something similar inside a sturdy cardboard box. ANYTHING SEALED inside any package (polythene sleeve, cardboard, bubble-wrap, etc) is done with masking tape. I find this is strong enough to seal securely, but the low stickiness of it means it is easy to remove, and therefore will not cause any damage by accidentally sticking to the item. ADDRESS LABELS will be printed from the Ebay postal page. EVERY single type of PACKAGE SENT will have 'FRAGILE' tape placed on the outside of it to ensure greater care by the couriers during all stages of delivery. Items will be promptly despatched - usually by no later than the next working day following payment, and often on the same day. FREE U.K. POSTAGE. INTERNATIONAL POST will be through eBay's Global Shipping Programme. International buyers please check GSP shipping rates and any applicable import duties before bidding as these are not set by me. Multiple items of the same type (I.e. flat or rolled posters) can be posted together, but please take into account that the GSP may not combine the shipping charge. It may combine at checkout, but I don't know for sure. I have no control over this, so please check first from your end before bidding. Thank you.
