Description: For sale is an ANTIQUE 18th to early 19th century early American wooden carriage foot warmer box. It is used by early travelers to warm their frozen feet when traveling in bitter cold New England winter weather. This particular one has beautiful folky heart design on all five sides. The top features a pin hole motif of intertwined double hearts! It is complete with the original wrought iron handle and the inner metal tray. Dark fine wood with all original surface and amazing patina. This is a very rare and highly sought after item. A genuine piece of colonial American life! It measures approximately 9” wide, 7.5” deep and 6” tall. The box is in great antique condition. The top has an early repair from a crack. This is common as the repeated heating and cooling will put a lot of stress on the top piece. The trap door works properly and has no damage. There are two chips of wood on the base, which is hardly noticeable unless you flip it over. See the last photo for detail. Great patina throughout. Age appropriate surface wears and imperfections are to be expected. Please check photos from all angles for details. Overall, a great piece of touchable history of colonial American country life. A great item to be added to your American folk art collection and to be displayed at your antique primitive/country home. Feel free to check out my other antique and collectible listings. I gladly combine shipping whenever practical.
