Description: A fantastic large Regionalist painting from the 1930s; full portrait of a handsome Black boy, well-dressed and sitting in a red wagon. His expression is wistful, seemingly torn between adolescence and childhood as neighborhood kids play nearby. The setting appears to be NYC's East Side, a frequent subject for the artist. Intriguing composition and details, beautifully painted in an earnest and direct style.
