Description: The Pitti Tondo (Tondo Pitti) is an unfinished marble relief of the Virgin and child by Michelangelo in round or tondo form. It was executed between 1503 and 1504 while he was residing in Florence, amongst the earliest known works he executed as a youngster. It is carved in shallow relief, a technique often employed by the master-sculptor of the early 15th century. Here's your opportunity to own an original piece made out of bronze from the finest and famous french foundry Barbedienne. SIZE: 9" diameter and a solid beautiful 1" thickness. Michelangelo carved this marble for Bartolomeo Pitti, as a private commission. A plaster copy of a true cast is on show at the Omero Museo, Italy, while the original is at the Bargello Museum.
