Description: BARBARIANS ON BIKES is a full color, large format (8.5" x 11") book collecting vintage men’s pulp adventure magazine covers, interior artwork and photographs that feature motorcycle riders and Hells Angels-style biker clubs and gangs. BARBARIANS ON BIKES is one of the books in the Men’s Adventure Library series, which reprints stories and artwork from men’s adventure mags published in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Most of the covers, interior spreads and photos in BARBARIANS ON BIKES have never been reprinted since their original publication. They include illustrations by many great mid-20th Century illustration artists who worked for the genre, including Mort Kunstler, Earl Norem, Charles Copeland, Norm Eastman, Samson Pollen, Gil Cohen, Al Rossi and John Duillo. The artwork and photos in the book are a unique visual archive showing how motorcycle riders and members of motorcycle clubs were depicted in the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. The rise and evolution of the stories about bikers and biker gangs in men’s adventure magazines parallels the biker movies and TV shows of the same era. In fact, the cross-fertilization between the men's pulp mags and biker exploitation films is clear from the types of stories and images featured in BARBARIANS ON BIKES.
