However, Ballistol dissolves traces of copper, zinc, lead and tombac and can, therefore, be used to clean brass, bronze and silver. Ballistol is an excellent smokeless powder cleaning solvent. It will “melt” carbon deposits in the barrel and chamber. Kunsa #181 is a unique gun oil and cleaner. It starts with a synthetic base that is blended with several petroleum based additives to obtain an oil that will clean, lubricate, and prevent rust. Its is a light/medium weight (about 10 wt) oil that works well during gun cleaning.
