Description: Up for sale a pre-owned Alvie Smith small ceramic pitcher. In Excellent Condition. No cracks, chips or wear. Signed Alvie Smith ’94. Measuring approximately 6.5” tall, 4.5” at the widest part of the round body and 6” total width including handle and spout. Alvie Smith was born in North Carolina and began throwing pottery at the age of 15. His works reflect the traditional shapes of Catawba Valley Pottery. While well known for his folk-art jugs his primary scope of work was in functional ware and characterized by his use of intense color using traditional alkaline glaze in addition to brilliant hues.
