O'Neal was coming off a pair of No. 1 singles, "There Is No Arizona" and "When I Think About Angels." Future superstar Shelton, who was the opening act, had just had a five-week No. 1 record with his debut single, "Austin." He would release his second single, "All Over Me," just as the tour started.
