Description: This plantation worker (Coachman) neck tag was just tossed into a glass display case with a few old watch fobs, junk coins and a few old war medals at the old Newgate Prison in Granby, CT. The prison was a 1700s copper mine and George Washington kept revolution war prisoners there. Prison shut down around 1880 and was privately owned for years. The state of Connecticut got privately owned prison museum in the 1980s and sold at auction all the museum items inside the prison that had nothing to do with prison history. John Wallan of Windsorville, Connecticut won high bid on all the items in one of the glass display case.
