Description: Authentic Polish Air Force Officer Dagger Dirk Poland Authentic Polish Air Force Officer Dagger Dirk 1954 Pattern Click images to enlarge Description An authentic late 50s period, Polish air force officer's dress dagger- dirk model 1954. The dirk features a tapered, chrome-plated steel blade with a diamond section and a flattened ricasso stamped with the factory serial number 6179, which is notably low. The silver-plated "S"-shaped crossguard features a loop for attaching a dress knot. The white grip is mounted in an oval ferrule with a button to secure the scabbard lock. It has a cup-shaped pommel adorned with a separately handmade Polish eagle in high relief, topped with a prominent button-shaped finial. Black leather-covered wood scabbard with shaped silver-plated mounts with suspension loops. The locket is applied with a separately crafted Polish Airforce red and white enamel checkerboard badge. This dagger was made in the late 1950s, evidenced by its factory serial number, 6179, which is somewhat low. Later period daggers are generally of lower quality compared to the early ones. They often feature yellowish plastic grips, nickel-plated fittings, and scabbards covered with synthetic materials. Additionally, the blades of these later daggers were engraved with various inscriptions and ornaments, whereas the blades of the early daggers were plain. CONDITION: This dirk, over 60 years old, is in excellent, untouched condition. Although there are some signs of age and use, they do not detract from its overall quality and appeal. The lock, button, and mechanism are all in working order. MEASUREMENTS: Overall length with the scabbard: 37 cm (14.57 inches). Overnight without the scabbard: 35 cm (13.78 inches).
