Description: ATQ (late 1800’s), Restrike Engraving On Paper, ‘Family Cares’ By Alfred Lucas , British engraver and printmaker, 1841-1886. Restrike after E.C. Barnes , British Painter (1830-1882), entitled ‘The Early Riser’ ( oil on Canvas). Restrike engraving are prints made using the original matrix subsequent to, and unrelated to the original venture. This is typically a practice sanctioned by the artist or the artists estate. This print is so sanctioned as indicated in the bottom left corner “E.C. Barnes, PINX”. Depicts a girl, in a nightgown, holding a kitten, while descending the stairs, with a puppy at her feet. Measurements: 15” wide, 19.5” tall, .75” deep. Condition: Excellent for age, material used. Frame and glass protected print from stain, wear, creases. Flaws: wood back missing bottom section, bottom left corner of print missing. NOTE: the print has a signature on its back, ‘Leo Hattor Parker’. Possibly, Leo Hattor Parker ( April 18, 1925 - Feb. 11, 1962) who was a jazz musician who primarily played baritone saxophone. Presented, under glass, in a gold tone wood frame, wired for hanging.
