Österling was born on the 3rd of July 1898 in Malmö, Province of Scania and died on the 25th of September 1972 in Gothenburg. She was a drawer, painter, batik artist and author. She studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Berlin 1923-1924 and she wrote and illustrated many books for children.
